Coaches
Both paid and volunteer coaches lead the way by organizing boats, communicating row times and cancellations, helping rowers perfect their technique and so much more.
Coswains
Everyone should be a coxswain at least once in their life in order to truly understand just how much a coxswain is responsible for. They are the command center of the boat processing water traffic, boat responsiveness and communicating to the rowers. Coxswains are compensated for their time and talent. If you are interested in cox'ing an eight or four please email us!
Captains
a/k/a Launch Drivers
You are the Captain of your own ship! Well, perhaps not your own but for an hour and 30 minutes you can pretend you are. Through the kind generosity of fellow members, PCRA has the use of a fantastic launch. The launch rides along side the rowing shells as the coach instructs the rowers. This allows the coach to give full attention to the boats. Captains are all volunteers. We supply the boat and fuel. If you are interested in being a Captain, please shoot us an email.
The evolution of this program is evidence of what can be accomplished by helping hands and giving hearts. If you would like to contribute your time and talent to this crew, in whatever manner that is of interest to you, please let us know! It could be marketing, boat maintenance, social media, photography, web maintenance, fundraising, organizing gatherings or work days, assisting with Learn-To-Rows - You Name It! If you would like to support Portland Community Rowing in a monetary way PCRA is a 501(c)(3) and is always thrilled to have supporters like you. Please email us at row@rowportland.org to make this happen.
